How did Lambeth Council lose £3 million?
November 2005

Lambeth Town Hall
Special council meeting called to find out how the council was defrauded by £3 million

Lambeth Labour Group called a special Council meeting on Wednesday 23rd November to find out how the Liberal Democrat controlled Council allowed the housing department to be defrauded of £3 million.

Despite presiding over one of the biggest examples of fraud in local Government history, nobody in the ruling Lib Dem party has taken responsibility for the series of failures which allowed the fraud to happen.
Lib Dem Housing boss Keith Fitchett is facing a vote which could force his resignation. All eyes will be on the Liberals' Coalition partners, the Conservatives, to see if they will let Councillor Fitchett off the hook or force the Lib Dems to take responsibility.

It is crucial that the Lib Dem council is held to account and forced to put in place measures which prevent this from happening again. Do get in touch with us if you would like to attend.
