"Sort this mess out"

![]() Councillor Dave Malley discusses local issues |
Residents in the Green Lane area of South Streatham, have been left staring at a demolition site for two years because Lambeth Council has done nothing to help redevelop the site. The William IV pub was demolished in 2002, but the empty plot of land has been left unused ever since. Local residents have voiced concerns about drug dealing, fly tipping and vandalism taking place under the cover of the developer barricades which surround the site.
Local Labour Councillor Dave Malley has had enough of the lack of action and is calling on the Lib Dem controlled council to act swiftly. He has repeatedly called on the council to consult with local residents on what they want to do with the site and then come up with a development plan.
The site has been subject to two planning applications by a developer to build a 5 storey residential block, which would not be suitable in the low rise area. Labour Councillors have helped residents in their successful campaign against this development, but in the meantime no other options have been explored by the council.
Streatham South Labour Councillor Dave Malley said:
“The Council should sort this mess out. The site looks terrible and is attracting vandalism and fly tipping to the area. The Liberals have had more than two years to do something about this but they have done nothing.”
“Residents of South Streatham are sick and tired of this eyesore. The Liberals said they would improve the gateways to the borough but this is worse than ever.”
“Local people should be consulted about
what they think should be done and then the wheels should be put in motion
to develop the site.”
