Residents living on the Bolney Meadows estate in Stockwell have
opened the door to a new beginning now that management of the estate has transferred
to Presentation housing association. The transfer took place on 31 March.
The Bolney Meadows estate transfer will bring huge benefit to householders,
and will enable major refurbishment works to be carried out. The transfer brings
with it a £24m refurbishment programme that will see homes upgraded to
a standard far exceeding the Decent Homes Standard over the next 5 years. There
is a further commitment to spend approximately £42m in the following 25
years to ensure that the estate does not fall into disrepair.
Planned works include new kitchens and bathrooms, rewiring throughout and individually controlled central heating boilers.
In addition to the upgrade and refurbishment of properties on the estate, residents will also benefit from a new community centre and a new local estate office
Lib Peck, Labour Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing commented: “This
stock transfer is good news for residents and tenants on this estate. It will
enable them to enjoy a much improved living environment with a £24m cash
investment that will bring their homes up to an excellent material standard.”
