Petitioners success as TfL consult on Streatham Vale Night bus
Valerie Shawcross, London Assembly Member for Lambeth and Southwark and Streatham South councillors Mark Bennett, John Kazantzis and Dave Malley are celebrating success after Transport for London announce that they are consulting on an idea to route the N133 night bus along Streatham Vale. Streatham South’s Labour trio collected around 200 signatures for a petition highlighting the long and worrying walk shift workers and those returning home late to Streatham face, as currently no 24 hour bus service runs along the Vale. Assembly Member Val then took up the gauntlet, presenting the petition to the London Assembly, who agreed to request the attention of TfL to the matter. ‘TfL have now come back to us to say they are consulting on the idea of running the N133 along Streatham Vale’. Val said ‘Obviously, I very much welcome this significant progress. It just goes to show that petitions and local campaigns can have an effect! I’d like to congratulate the local councillors on their hard work and am pleased to be working with them on this.’ The consultation closes on May 4th, Val added
‘It’s really important that we get lots of responses, so if
anyone would like me to feed their comments into the process, I’d
urge them to contact me as soon as possible.’
