Lib Dems' 35% council tax hike stuns Lambeth residents

Lib Dems shocking tax hike
Lambeth Lib Dems shocking council tax hike

Lambeth Council has been run by an alliance of Liberal Democrats and
Conservatives for the last three years. In that time, they have hiked up
your council tax by 35%. Their record-breaking increases mean that the
average household in Lambeth has paid at least £706 in extra council tax
since May 2002.

Despite this massive amount of money taken off local residents, services
have got worse. The Tory-Lib Dem council was recently judged to be 'weak'
by Government inspectors, and was officially branded the second worst
council in London. We're all paying a lot more money but getting nothing
back in return.

Labour Councillors believe there is no excuse for the record-breaking
council tax hikes over the past three years, particularly given the amount
of money that the Liberals and Tories are wasting.

For example, they have paid tens of millions of pounds to buy themselves a
luxury riverside office building. They wasted another £7 million hiring
fat-cat consultants. Labour says the money should have been spent on crime
prevention, repairing our roads, improving our schools or providing better
services for elderly people - or even refunded in a tax cut.

Labour is ambitious about improving Lambeth Council. But our Lib Dem-Tory
town hall bosses are wasting money and allowing front line services to get
worse. Don't let the rip-off continue, register your support for Lambeth
Labour below:
