Council Tax Nightmare

Ruth and Robin - Council Tax nightmare

Cllr Ruth Ling and Robin Hall

Many Lambeth residents have problems with their Council Tax. Often they find that they have paid in full but that still receive demands for money because it takes so long for Capita, the service provider, to process the cheques they receive. Sometimes, bailiffs are even sent round to people’s homes when they have paid in full.

This happened to Robin Hall (seen here with his Labour Councillor, Ruth Ling of Clapham Common ward). Even though he'd paid his Council Tax, and had a statement to prove it, he still received written threats from Council bailiffs to repossess his valuables. He immediately got in touch with Ruth.

“Luckily, Ruth knew the right person to speak to at the Council and she was able to put a stop to the bailiffs that same day. It never would have happened if she hadn’t been able to intervene so promptly” says Robin

“Lambeth is a huge organisation and sometimes mistakes are made. Labour Councillors are able to help residents when things go wrong. If there is anything you think I can help you with, then do please contact me on the address below.” Says Ruth.
