When and why did you first become interested
in politics?
I originally wanted to become a doctor but at the age of 17 I suddenly got interested
in politics for some unknown reason and decided to do a politics degree at Liverpool
University instead of becoming a doctor. The rest is history.
What inspired you to become a councillor?
To help people and improve my local community
Has it been worth it?
Yes it has
What’s your greatest fear and your greatest
hope?
Falling off a tall building and not falling off a tall building
What’s the first thing you would do if
you ruled the world for a day?
Marry Sandra Bullock
What single thing would most improve your area?
Create a community facility at the old Lillian Baylis school which would
include sport facilities
What fictional character do you identify with,
and why?
Dr Gibbons from neighbours as I look like him.
What’s your favourite film?
The man who knew too little starring Bill Murray. It is a rubbish film but it
is so bad it is good
What does your council do particularly well?
All the officers I have had dealings with so far have been very helpful,
it is just sometimes the answers are not so helpful.
What do you consider your greatest political
triumph?
Winning the election in 2006
What is the biggest problem with local government
today?
Local government powers are not very great and most of the money comes from
central government as a handout. If local councils had more power and raised
all their own money things would be better.
How would you solve it?
Change the laws on councils and funding
Who is your political hero, and why?
The guy who stood in front of the tank in Tiananmen square as it shows
balls.
When and where are you most happy?
Watching TV on the sofa with my partner after eating a nice meal and feeling
full.
What’s your theme song?
You’re the best around from the Karate Kid movie
What one book would you take with you to a
desert island?
“How to get off a desert island in 5 easy steps” by JH Houston
