![]() Councillor Ade Aminu |
Ade Aminu Has been Labour Councillor for Tulse Hill since May 2006:
When and why did you first become interested
in politics?
In the 1980'S when I was living in Nigeria. I used to be a presiding officer
and a polling agent, so that was a very good introduction. Also my mum brother
was chairman of a political party at local level, so I guess politics was in
the family.
What inspired you to become a councillor?
A desire to make a difference and to represent people.
Has it been worth it?
Yes. It’s hard work but I'm really enjoying it.
What’s your greatest fear and your greatest
hope?
My greatest hope is that at the end of the four years we will have achieved
enough for the people of Lambeth. My greatest fear is not being able to achieve
all our promises.
What’s the first thing you would do
if you ruled the world for a day?
Change the world for the better by creating peace and harmony
What single thing would most improve your
area?
There are many issues, however, more school places and better education in the
area is a big issue.
What’s your favourite film?
Coming to America starring Eddie Murphy
What does your council do particularly well?
Street cleaning is definitely improving
What do you consider your greatest political
triumph?
Winning the election in 2006.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
None that I'd put on the Internet!
What is the biggest problem with local government
today?
Council’s not listening enough.
How would you solve it?
Encourage more community engagement and not just through consulting, but by
ACTING on what people say.
Who is your political hero, and why?
Gordon Brown. Because of his passion for helping less privileged people
When and where are you most happy?
I'm always happy!
