Clapham Town councillors 'Happy to get our hands dirty'

Determined to find out just how the refuse collection system works, Labour Councillor Jonathan Myerson joined a team on a truck as they cleared the Old Town streets one Monday morning: “These guys work incredibly hard – I was surprised how quickly they get through it. And now I know that they are really trying to do a clean and efficient job.”

But if you have any complaints, ring 020 7926 1166 and things should be put right within 24 hours. “If they’re not,” says Jonathan, “contact your Labour Action Team and we’ll make sure there’s instant action.”

Meanwhile, Action Team Member Christopher Wellbelove is pushing for more recycling: “I don’t understand why, a few streets away in Wandsworth, they can recycle plastic cartons but we can’t. It’s time we expanded the options. If we don’t, it’s our children and grandchildren who’ll pay the price.”
